Adam Franklin - Bolt of Melody

Caught ex-Swervedriver vocalist/guitarist Adam Franklin at 50-capacity rock club The Cavern on Greenville Ave. last Thursday. Adam and his band tore through tracks from his solo debut, Bolts of Melody, including the set opener and Swervie soundalike "Seize the Day." It was practically manna for us old Swervedriver fans -- so imagine my surprise to find out that the group are getting together after a 10 year hiatus. Of course all the details are to be worked out. Expect a tour but no word on if we'll get a new album from the Oxford pedal pushers. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Actually, with the high quality of Adam's solo work like Toshack Highway and the excellent Bolts of Melody, who needs a new Swervedriver album? I highly recommend Bolts...as a matter of fact...click on the link below for a little taster.

Cheers.

Ron Paul Nets Over $5 Million in 3rd Quarter

If there was ever any doubt that Dr. Ron Paul's support system was made up of more than just a few, lonely nerds living in their parents' basement -- how about his ability to raise $1.2 million dollars in six days? That's what the Republican hopeful took in during the last week of the third financial quarter, ending it with $5.3 million cash in hand -- effectively pushing past alleged "top tier" candidate John "Dead-in-the-Water" McCain. What's important to remember is that most of Dr. Paul's contributions were from private citizens giving out $25 and $50 donations. This is big, people and of course, except for a few, short articles (often appended to bigger stories on Hillary "Corporate-Establishment-Pick" Clinton's $20 million haul this quarter), the Mainstream Media is ignoring this story. That's okay. The people are putting their money where their mouths are and this is building up. They can try to stop it, but once people start seeing Ron Paul ads on TV and getting his message -- more and more will turn to this humble Texan in 2008 -- unless the GOP get in the way...
