Some interesting coincidences in the past couple of weeks. I started reading about chess and how to play the day before Bobby Fischer dies. And I recently watched some classic Twilight Zone episodes, most notably the great 1961 offering Midnight Sun...only to learn that the show's star -- the incredibly talented and kinda hot (pun intended) -- Lois Nettleton passed away from complications due to lung cancer on January 18th at the age of 80. Sheesh. She was 80? How time flies. I haven't watched the show in a few years but it's one of those amazing pieces of art that never seems to age.

Cinematic Titanic - MST3K Redux
Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans, take heart. The cast-crew of the original series have reunited in what could be a fun new project titled CINEMATIC TITANIC. Joel, Trace, Frank, Josh and Mary Jo will silhouette themselves once more in a direct-to-DVD release of the Al Adamson classic Brain of Blood. The group performed for the employees of Industrial Light and Magic out in San Fran last month and word is: it was funny. And that comes from someone who isn't even an MST3K fan...I'll let him comment on the subject if he so wishes (ILM can be so fussy about leaked info, y'know). Oh, btw, the current rights holders of Brain of Blood were apparently concerned that a new version of their beloved movie would confuse consumers, so the movie is being released as The Oozing Brain. Can't wait. You can read more about Cinematic Titanic and view a trailer by visiting their official website.

New Year 2008 - First Post
Man, sorry it's been so long. Too long. The holidays have come and gone. New Years has come and gone and here we are -- seven days into 2008 (dang, the years are starting to accelerate out of control!) and here's my first post. For those of you who caught me, thanks for your hospitality out in New York City. Spent a week out there right after Christmas and into NYE. Lots of food (mostly Asian) and some good friends. Glad to see the new additions (babies). Everyone's having babies.
Let's see...I jumped into High Definition video last month at precisely the wrong time...bought a $159 HD DVD player and now Warner Brothers have announced they're going exclusively Blu Ray. Yikes. That means I own a $159 paper weight. Stings a little but I gotta tell ya, for those on the fence, jump in if you have the means. HD video is where it's at. Check out the 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Shining HD discs for proof. HD DVD or not.
Making some life changes. Had a moment of clarity out in NYC. What does it all mean? I'll let you guys figure that one out for yourselves.
I have an experiment that I plan on springing on this blog but I'll wait and let everyone know about it once it's more developed. Stay tuned. I promise to post more often!
